Hey guys so i started a dubia colony and i primarly feed them tropical fish flakes as a staple for gutloading. Ive done this for years with all my feeders, even when i was breeding mice and ive noticed all my herps develope shinier scales and popping colors. Im under the impression that this is a benificial practice however, ive never heard of anyone else doing this. What do you guys think? Heard anything neg or pos about it?

Hi Javiera23. Welcome to our Tegu forum family. To be honest with you I don't know what to think of this. But I wouldn't do it. I just would feed them fruits.

It might be because the increased carotenes in fish food.

Carotenes and spirulina, likely. I also often use fish flakes for keeping insects with, and there's nothing wrong with it.
