So I started a small dubia colony a few weeks ago with like one pair of adults. It has been doing alright, but two days ago I saw a guy selling lots of dubia roaches. I contacted him and he sold me 100 females and 30 males, along with thrown in nymphs for $40. So they have only been in the bin with my other roaches for two days but today I noticed 6 of the males were all dead in the same spot in the bin. Anyone know possible reasons for this? They came from a colony with like 15,000-20,000 roaches if that could have something to do with it.

Wow, this is strange. I wish I could help you on this one. But I haven't heard of this before. I would contact a roach breeder and ask them.

They need to be fed more fruits and veggies...the females attacked the males for food...

How about protein? I don't have experience, just throwing it out there.

from my research they dont really eat meat, even high end food like i feed my dog and cat they wont touch it they go after veggies first, it keeps them hydrated and they will eat it faster, i dont think protein is the problem

Thanks, I've read about protein needs, but the few I keep don't get excited about it either.

I was given a bunch of dubia by Johnny at Teguterra because he dislikes them. He had just kept them around forever because he didn't feel like killing them. Every single last one is female. Great feeders, but now I have to buy males if I want to breed them, and I am not sure if it even work, the females are probably old.

Doesn't stop G'Mork from chowing down on them, of course.

Mine seem to love sweetish grains. They tore up a dry ice cream cone I threw in there quickstyle.
