so i dont want to breed my tegu he is just a spooled pet is there any one whos tegu does not hibernate and is it bad for them if they dont
Long term effects of skipping hibernation has never been tested or documented, but I know people who have had tegus for several years and skipped every hibernation and the tegus have grown fine.
Keep in mind that while a tegu is in hibernation its metabolism slows and they barely grow/age. It is my assumption that if the growth/aging is slowed for several months each year during hibernation, that every year they don't hibernate you loose several months of life expectancy. Again, that is my assumption and I have no evidence to back it up.
