Hi,

Just to say that a while ago I started a couple of colonies of large roaches for my tegu. These are Madagscar hissers Gromphadorhina portentosa and giant cave roaches Blaberus giganteus.

I find that my tegu isn't too keen on the adult giganteus but likes the large nymphs. He likes the hissers - they don't half crunch!

Both species took a while to get going, but after a few months they are going great. Really easy to keep, never escape and good nutritious snack food for tegus...

Mark.

I have 4 species of roaches. I did have 5 species. The tegus eat all of them. They did like the hissers, but I got rid of them as my wife feared some would climb out so I sold that colony and stick with non climbing, non flying, non jumping, non infesting species.. :) My wife sleeps much better at night too. lol

What roach is best for long term tegu feeding? It would seem that over time the roaches would be too small and fast. Up to what size of tegu can you feed the roaches?
