I'm planning on starting up a roach colony to feet my tegu but I wasn't sure what was more nutritous.

Hissers or discoids?
I'm open to other species as long as they get big.

of those two i would do dicoid, hissers climb glass and have a lot of shell and fat, compared to other species. I am starting with orange heads, they stink but i like em so far. about the same size as a discoid. but more protien, due to thier protien rich diet requirments. dubia are also nice.

OK I'll nix the hissers.
I'm going to look into orange heads and dubias.
Smell is not an issue as I will be keeping them in the garage.

What do you feed your orange heads? Being that they require a higher protein diet.

tropical fish flakes is a good starter as it has a very high protein content, all my roaches get fishflakes (not just the orange heads) chick starter, and a variety of fruits and veggies
