Here's another from our buddies at ReptileUV. They research the effects of UV as their sole business.

reptileuv are supposedly tried and true good bulbs and a stand up company.

on that note, for flourecent tube bulbs like 18" long i think is their a minimum distance? i was under the impression their isn't cause i got groxys on the ground next to her basking spot so she scratches her head on it and lays on the fixture some times.

8O wow! I just purchased one of those mega-ray 160 from Reptileuv.com and that thing works so well I feel like I have the sun in my reptile inclosure. it pulls way more heat then the powersun bulbs.

Cool!

As for the tubes, I've not seen a minimum except for 6". I know the UV dissipates when you get more than 12" away.
