Last night she was laying in her nest wiggling her butt once in a while. We figured she was laying so we left her alone. This morning we find her in the same position still wiggling, but doing it a lot more. We went back to bed for a little bit. I had left a note on the door saying not enter because she could start eating her eggs if she feels they're threatened. My wife got up a little later and found our 12 year old son in the room with the enclosure open counting the eggs in the nest!!!! The kid is lucky to be alive! She didn't move so we've been watching her once in a while. About half an hour ago I found her out of her nest. Bobby said to pull her out and collect the eggs and hopefully she'll continue laying, she's still quite big. So here we are waiting to see if she's going to finish laying and hope she doesn't eat them.

Here she is laying in her nest. You can see an egg in the right side.

Here's the eggs we have so far. The yellow one on the right is probably a slug.

She laid one more under her hide. It's 83 degrees down here and probably hotter in her enclosure. I turned off her basking light.

We'll candle them in a week, no rush. If an egg turns yellow and shrivels up it's infertile. All the infertiles will be known in the next 2 or 3 weeks. Slugs are infertile eggs. I hope we don't get many!!

We're still waiting to see if the other female lays. She's big but I didn't notice any lumps 2 days ago. We haven't seen her yet today.

She's thinking, "Geesh, maybe Dave will leave me alone for while now and give me some privacy"

She's laying them randomly all over!! She started burying herself in her nest but came out. At 4:30pm we found an egg in the corner of the enclosure. A few minutes later, as she's walking around, she starts to wiggle her butt and drops another one as we watched!!

Thanks!

It's 88 degrees & humid outside (and in the garage). I just built a 4 level Retes Stack for the Savannah Monitor we're fostering. Now I'm working on an adjustable height basking light system for the enclosure the Savannah is in, and I'm going to divide it in half.

To bad you didn't film her laying the egg :-( .Let me know when they start to hatch. We still want to get a hatchling from you ;-) :D .I hope the one I'm going to get from you will turn out to be a male so we can breed him with Schatzi ( blue/red hybrid ) and the All American female Tegu.Or just with Schatzi and we will breed Spatzi with the all american Tegu.

I almost did!!! She was walking around and started wiggling her butt and pushing. I started the video but nothing came out. Maybe she was just bashful???!!!

Found 7 more this morning!!! We're up to 21, short of the 29 she laid last year. She may have a few left in there, it's hard to tell. I turned her lights on to warm her up.

If I remember correctly, its 60 days to hatch plus 3 weeks after they hatch before they ship. So around the end of Oct or early Nov time frame before we get'em.

Well if it's in October it will be my Birthday pressant ( to my self ).That's OK if it will take that long because that way I will have enough time to spend with the All American Tegu hatchling and get her tamed and used to every thing :D.

Once again ditto,... if its early Nov it'll be my birthday present and my All American will have time to bond and settle in with me, Dino and Powder before the last baby arrives.

This morning I found her laying outside the nest with a soft egg next to her. I took her out and searched the nest. Didn't find any more.

I just talked to my wife and she laid another one. This is very strange. We'll give her another day or 2 to finish laying, them we're going to have to get an x-ray taken to see if she has any more in her.

We're up to 23. We'll find out in a few days how many are fertile.

DaveDragon

She laid 29 last year and we hatched 18. She damaged 4 and there were a few slugs. I'm hoping for a better ratio this year. And we may have more eggs soon from another female.

She's the former Ozzy. http://www.thetegu.com/showthread.php?t=6520

http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n303/PinewoodDaddy/Blue%20Tegus/IMG_1558_.jpg

We bought her as a pet but she's put on a little weight since we got her and the main difference between her and our male is length. She's not that much smaller. They copulated only on one day (3 or 4 times) about 4 weeks ago. She's had no interest since. I guess we'll see what happens. We don't even know if she'll lay or have any fertile eggs.

She's on top, Blue (male) is on the bottom.

Thanks! No, nothing from the other female. She's still big but I haven't felt any lumps like she's going to lay soon.

Here's a pic of the eggs. Most of the eggs in the left tub were put in there by our 12 year old son after being told numerous times not to bother the nest. He didn't wash them either. In the right column of the left tub, the middle egg has a slight leak. I'm going to try putting some New Skin on it to seal it. Any other ideas???

Lost another one (the one that was leaking), down to 19. 2 others have green mold on one end. Cleaned them off with hydrogen peroxide and put them in their own bin.
