Since the mom is Kreacher, my 16yo daughter decided the first baby needs to be named Monster! I know she's bummed because she's at a music camp for another week and is missing our FIRST EVER BABY TEGU!!! Unfortunately she also has the good camera. I took a phone pic but I need to figure out how to get it from my Blackberry to the site.

Anyway, the egg pipped yesterday, but I thought it was too early. I checked on it today and was just getting a bad vibe. I picked it up...no movement, nothing. The egg was collapsing and I didn't want the little guy to dehydrate. I had it in my hand, pondering what to do, when it started moving. The slit grew bigger and the little bugger just popped out of the egg and jumped right out of my hands!!! Holy Cow!

He is so freaking cute!!!!

Awww he is so cute :) . Congrats Laura on your first little one. I was a very worried about the little one when I first started to read on him not moving. I'm so happy that all turned out well. I can't wait to see some more pictures. Good luck with the rest of them.

CONGRATS!! It's amazing how they just pop out of the egg!

Keep an eye on them, they can hatch at any time. If they don't all hatch by day 64 (Sunday?) increase the incubator temp by 4 or 5 degrees and they'll pop like popcorn in a couple of hours.

Thanks everyone! I'll let you know how the others do as they hatch.

HM, this is not the little defunct one. That egg hatched but the little guy died and was only halfway out. He was small and pink-ish so I'm thinking maybe he was a week preemie or so.

I was out of town all day. Nothing hatched but quite a few eggs look ready to go! I'm going to bump the temps up tomorrow morning when I am home all day.

The little guy is just hiding under the newspaper in his tank. awwww

Dave....just the person I was thinking of! On Sunday, another little guy hatched. He's smaller, has a tiny hook on the end of his tail, and is stiff with one back leg. I'm hoping that will work itself out.

The eggs appear to me to be a different stages of development. There are a few that seem to need another week or so. I'm afraid to bump the temps up for fear of damaging the embryos inside. But right now, the temps are running about 89 in the incubator.

I thought about tickling them, but I'm afraid of provoking a hatch that isn't "done" yet.

I forgot what you're using for an incubator? Is it possible the temps could be varying much inside of it? What are you measure the temp with and were are you measuring the temp. I use an Accu-Rite with the probe in the substrate.

Tickling them is cool. They just pop right out! They're very slippery and move fast, my wife nearly lost 2 last season.

I made a incubator from a cooler and I'm using ZooMed heating wire for the heat. The probe is a digital number and placed on top of the substrate in one container. It's always been accurate for me and the temps have been stable.

Yeah, the first one jumped out of my hands. He was so slippery and a lot faster than baby beardies!

It sounds like you're doing the same thing as I am except I'm using (2) blue 25w light bulbs for heat.

That reminds me, I need to get the incubator down and set it up!!

Congrats on your second baby. Hope all is going to turn out well with him/her. I'm a bit lost. Did you mean he just has one back leg ? Or did you mean that he just can use one leg ? Do you have a picture of him/her ? Thank you.

Thanks, Sam! He has both back legs, but one seems stiff, like it doesn't bend at the knee. I'll just have to wait and see what happens as he grows.

I'll try to get more pictures tomorrow.

I'll take him out and check him out today. If I remember correctly, he doesn't have a fused knee because I could straighten it. It's the back right. :) Right now I call him Forrest (run, forrest, run).

Forest is even better lol i didnt even think of that. (i loved that movie)

But no if it can straighten then it's most likely not a fused knee or knee cap.

Your welcome Laura. I love that name. I'm sure he will be fine. Maybe he didn't have enough room inside the egg to move around much. Maybe giving him some massages will help his leg. You never know.

Your funny Chris lol.
