I just wanted to say that we re-homed our Tegu Whisky a couple of days ago. The reason is that her enclosure makes it to hard for us to move to a bigger place. Turns out that we must sell our...

I got my very first monitors a little while ago. I was actually planning on getting a couple of small ones like storri or gilleni. But then I found these extremely small ridge-tailed monitors just...
Our Tegu has made a giant pile of mulch in an empty corner where she now sleeps. She also pushes pieces of corkbark into it. Lol, once we found her feeding plate on top of the pile.

It might be because the terrarium isn't fully warm yet. We are slowly rising the temperature after hibernation and her apatite are growing. So I wanted to offer her a mouse. I have never seen her...

Sorry for the late response. I will try to answer your questions the best I can. It's hard to talk about technical stuff like this because I'm not familiar with the English worlds :) The background...
Thanks a lot. :)
Yeah It's almost annoying with all these beardie owners claiming that you can't use loose substrate because the dragon will get impacted or sick from germs unless you change the...

The cage looks good. I would recommend to put another hide on the cold side and preferably in the middle too. They should be able to hide and control their body temperature at the same time.
Thanks. :)
Is it just me or does red tegus always look more bulky than the B/Ws?
I have written a care sheet about Argentine B/W tegus in my native language and now I'm thinking about if I can recommend it for people who are interested in red, blue and Colombian tegus as well.

Looks like a good start. Good luck. :D
Nice Iguana (as far as I can tell). It looks like he's in big need of a new enclosure though.
I made this t-shirt for myself. :D It's a photo of our Tegu Whisky. I can't wait to wear it on the next expo.

Here comes some updates. We have been feeding our Tegu inside the enclosure for a few months now. It's working very well. :P We put all the fruit and wholepray in a bowl that stands on a flat rock...
Does it have to be mulch? I use a mix of topsoil and peat and I'm very happy with it. Peat can be dusty if it's dry but that shouldn't be a problem in an enclosure with high humidity.
Our Tegus doesn't have full tail, a small piece of it is lost. It was that way then we got her, I suspect shedding problems.
Why don't you get a ordinary room humidifier? It makes is possible to mist the enclosure while you are gone and it's less work than misting yourself.
