Also, the colombian tegus do not tolerate the cold as well as the argentines so if you keep the ac on at night you should make sure that the temp in the enclosure doesn't drop too low because that can also raise its stress level.

Spraying him/the enclosure is a good way to raise the humidity, but a large bowl of fresh water should be present daily in order for your tegu to be able to drink and soak at his leisure.

Congrats on your new Tegu. I think he is just very stressed out and is not used to his new home yet. I would keep the temps up in his enclosure and leave him alone for a few days. As soon as he feels more safe he will come out. Please make sure that he does have some water in his enclosure that he can drink from. If you see him out just sit by his enclosure and look at him. Don't reach in there the first time you see him. Let him see you a few times and get used to you. He will eat as soon as he calmed down more and when he is hungry enough. Don't worry we all go through this. Even with our Argentines .

My Colombian has stayed buried for a few days in the winter, but not quite the hibernation period we think of with Argentines. However, when I've moved her or upgraded her enclosure, it was really stressful and she hid more.

The problem is that you can end up with a tegu that eats only egg. However, you can try putting a bit off egg on top of other foods. Don't forget the calcium supplement!
