    Default Marshlands good for field-herping?

About 8 minutes away from my home are marshlands. I want to go field-herping for my first time. I understand that since im going on murky landscapes I'll be likely to find amphibians but I dont know any place near Nassau County thats good for field-herping. It sounds like a beautiful activity. But i'm not sure if marshlands would be wise and what-not.

you'll find - frogs, sals, toads, water snakes, turtles, & even the Diamondback Terrapins
(you cant keep any sals/toads/snakes, but with a NYS Small Game License you can keep a set number of frogs/turtles & as many terrapins as you want)

Oh nono not to keep. Just to enjoy them in their natural habitat. I'm aware about the risks of WC reptiles.

Unless field-herping means keeping WC reptiles xD

Oh no, i wasnt meaning you were going to keep them, but some field herpers, collect, study, & release back where they were taken.
but with out the NYS SGL you cant even do that.

Figures. There isn't many things you CAN do in NY without some restriction haha. That sounds so interesting though. Seems like a good place mostly for amphibians but hopefully I can find some interesting creatures reacting in their natural habitats. It's the best studying you can do.
