    Default Repti shedding aid?

I was at Petsmart getting a lamp and some Rep-Cal calcium and I saw something by Zoo Med called Repti Shedding Aid.

Has anybody ever heard of or used this? Is it safe? Does it work? I was thinking about buying it since my bearded dragon has some old shed skin stuck on him.

Its crap, you will get the same effect rubbing water on your beardie. But really its just a waste of money IMO, try adding some more decor to the cage for him to rub against to get it off or give soak for 15mins that will soften the shed up enough for you to use a qtip and roll it off or use tweezers. The shed aid it self is not harmful it is just not as effective.

i've used it for years & i find it helps snakes, but not much help on my tegus.
I've never had a beardie so i dont know if it would help much.

i find a good soaking, "brush" them down with a spounge, then spray them with the repti-shed aid, then rub it in.

Hmm, I don't know what to think, one person likes it and another doesn't.

The thing is, I have been giving him long soaks as much as I can, but they are still not helping. That's why I was wondering if he needed something more, like the shed aid.

I've always heard they were a waste. I go for soaks, increasing water intake in the food, and using a mosit towel, fingers, or tweezers to get the stuck skin started.

That won't hurt him if I pick at it? I always thought you weren't supposed to peel the skin. Or is it a ''last ditch'' thing?

It's mainly his nose and some of his tail.

It depends on if it is stuck or loose. If it is whitish and not coming loose yet, I'd wait. Sometimes those places take a long time to get ready to come off.

Yep, that's the case. The last 1/2'' of his tail has been whitish for months, but it hasn't even loosened yet. I think his nose has a layer of stuck sheds.
