That's cute! Where is her shed problem? I tried HM's idea and let my little one bask on a damp towel when he had shedding problems and it worked really well.

What's the humidity level in her enclosure, and how long has she been trying to shed? I know when we still had Boz and Ozcar, it would take them up to a week to shed their bodies, and their tails always took the longest. If it looked like they were having any difficulty though, I'd rub the affected area down with a bit of olive oil after a nice long soak, and it always did the trick for me.

Humidity's around the 70s and I'm not entirely sure when she started. I just recently picked her up from Nessie.

I'm going to try the olive oil today.

She has been shedding for a good month. The more soaks she got the better her skin looked. Its like she had really dry skin rather then a tegu that is growing out of their skin. I assume that is why she has not had a complete shed. It is more flakey and comes off in little thin bits. She is a pretty pickey eater and is not a fan of cod liver oil but I noticed her skin look better when I started to "inject"a couple drops of the oil into the centre of her turkey balls and it seemed to work some. I would also notice after a bath with some almond oil she never even looked like she was shedding. Not sure if tegus get dry skin but I think she did.

Eh, I don't see why it couldn't happen. I mean, there are plenty of humans and even other types of pets that can suffer from dry skin. Perhaps she's just going to be one that needs help with all her sheds. There's also the theory that reds simply need more fruit in their diet otherwise they tend to suffer from shedding problems. I like the idea of adding almond oil to the bath water. And I'm ALWAYS a fan of tricking them into eating what's good for them; my beardie, Leonidas, simply refuses to eat his greens (unless I let him run around the back yard... then he goes straight for the clover patches!) but has a major weakness for raspberries, so I stuff them with the different greens that I offer him.

    I'm a sneaky Mommy.
