    Default diet

i am trying to make a feeding chart and i have a few questions
when feeding do you give them as much as they want or should there be a limit?
if i cannot get raw meat would pree cooked slices from a local shop as a backup do or not?
how much meat to fruit should be in each meal?
and how many times should you feed them a day?

If you have a baby, then feed him as much as he will eat in about a 15 minute period every day. Adults can be fed every other day if they tend to lean towards the overweight side. All meat should be raw, not cooked; you can't find ground turkey in your grocery stores or at a local butcher? As far as meat-to-fruit ratio, in my opinion they should be fed mainly meat, but different fruits can be mixed into every meal if they'll eat it. Make sure you are going to feed whole prey items (like mice and rats, appropriately sized) once or twice a week. And everything that doesn't have bones in it needs to be dusted with the recommended amount of calcium powder.

Eggs should be fed as a treat really; no more than once a week. Ours loved them lightly scrambled with a few drops of cod liver oil, but other have soft-boiled them, hard-boiled them, or fed raw. Just don't feed them too often; they're not very nutritious, and can actually interfere with with their bodies ability to absorb things (to extremely simplify the matter).

Deli meat has too many chemicals. Try ground turkey, gizzrds, hearts, livers, F/T rodents, chicken breast fillets (raw/rinsed). I feed 75% meat and 25% fruit. I think eggs are nutritious, but tegus can get partial to them and hold out for them. I feed eggs boiled, scrambled, or raw, once or twice monthly. I feed my young ones daily until about 2yo and adults every other day or 3 times weekly, depending on season, weight, etc.

Be careful with the bananas; they've got a high phosphorus level that can be harmful if fed too often.

    *facepalm*

It's not a high phosphorus level that bananas have, it's a high potassium level I believe (I had a *derp* moment...)

Either way, I know it's just not good to feed it as a regular option. Use them as a treat.

heheh....most fruits, except for papaya have a higher phosphorous than calcium ratio. But it's the overall diet that counts.
