I am not looking forawrd to my electric bill with 5 power suns, UTH's and many halogen bulbs. I figure it can't be any worse that my 6 foot reef tank I had with metal halides. I also use power sun.

I don't think the bulbs themselves are that bad. For me, it's the heat in room generated by open top cages and then the A/C running to cool the house. Plus we have a cat door in the sliding glass door that isn't very efficient. My husband thinks my reptiles increase the electric. I think it's his big butt TV and A/C working to cool the house when it's 94 degrees outside all summer.

Hahaha!! Yeah, The Boyfriend likes his giant entertainment toys as well... though I can't complain, because they've grown on me too. I personally think that all of the heating a lighting requirements for a reptile *does* increase an electric bill; when we rehomed our tegus, I actually noticed a drop in our bill from the last month we had them to the first month we didn't. And when we lived in our old apartment, we basically went from having one beardie only to having two beardies, two ball pythons, and two tegus... all within about two months, and I DEFINITELY noticed our electric bill jump.

I've got 3 solar glo's... There are probably more people that are using the power suns but I would feel confident saying the solar glos are the second most popular. I've been using them for 2 years and haven't had any issue. I might try a powersun once these need to be changed, I think the power suns are more expensive.

SO, nordica, are you saying that running lights on 4 big tegu cages, 8 other lizard cages, 2 RHP's for the big snake cages, and 3 snake cages might have an effect on my electric bill??? jk I'm just glad that some can live on the porch and get natural light and warmth.

I have never tried PowerSun bulbs but I do use the power of the sun and it works great.

I have two current fears...neighbors and hawks. Plus, I need them to stay super tame for educational shows.
