Default Mo~Mo (Albino Emydura subglobosa subglobosa)

Here is my Albino Australian red-bellied short-necked turtle(Emydura subglobosa subglobosa) called Mo~mo
He is very active in water, very good at swimming, also very well eater
But like other albino turtles, he has weak sight
So I had a hard time for his feeding as he was a baby
He only see a silhouette and its color of an object unclearly I guess, so he swims straight without sight and hits his nose at a wall of the tank always

He has sight difficulties, but he uses his sharp olfactory sensation
Though he cannot capture some living preys alive, he learnt to eat meals from my twizzers
Now he's grown days by days

Albino Australian red-bellied short-necked turtle is very rare specimen

The first is a very eery image. Looks like a ghost. How sad that it was bred with these disadvantages.

You know disadvantaging specializes other abilities.
my grandfather was a blind, a completely blind.
and he seemed he was no disadvantage in his life.
He read braille newspapers with his fingers and cooked by himself.
Of course, living in the wild for a blind is difficult.
But in captivity, a blind turtle will live like others with owner's help.
Mo〜mo is not a ghost. He has very cute looking(^-^)/
    I like his pale coloration.

In your images, you bring out his beauty. He looks like he's made of delicate porcelain. And of course in your care he has a happy life and will be well fed. But not everyone who collects such a specimen takes such care. Because they are so cute and precious, I worry that albino reptiles and amphibians are being produced and purchased by people who appreciate their looks but might not be ready for the commitment you have made.

I'm curious, how does he get UVB without getting sunburned?

    to Hernandomom.
Yeah, I understand. Albinos are popular,
    because of the un-natural aspect.
Some people like some sickness image and thing.
some people like pastel pink, white, pale color.
Albino is unusual and it might be the reason why they are
    popular.

I try to move this albino turtle to an empty box
besides of a window, when it is sunny
and give him some basking time in the sun.
But it is short time. 30min basking. He enjoys it.
I think he gets some UVB by it.
There is no UV light on his tank.

I think it's no accident that you have such a gift in the visual arts. Maybe the experience of having someone in your family without sight has influenced you to appreciate and specialize in your abilities to capture and reproduce images more stunning than what the human eye and brain might pick up.
