Default Can you handle your tegus after feeding

I have a 2 year old columbian Gold Tegu and he's a charmer! Very friendly and never tried to bite!
He's unfortunately skittish because i only acquired him two weeks ago. I take him into the shower daily or every other day as the water relaxes him and becomes the litter box. I fed him a large mouse and I definitely wasn't sure if he would be able to eat it. After he fixed himself and walked onward, i walked in front of him and he bolted away. Are you even supposed to handle them after feedings or should i wait until the next day? All help appreciated!!

I usually handle mine on feeding days and I also like to feed them right before handling. Maybe he was just startled by you height, walking, new area.

Yes,.. I handle mine before, during when need be and after. I make sure they're well fed before they roam also,.. to hopefully keep them from eating something they shouldn't.

I rather hold our Tegus after they just ate because they are more calm and don't try to bite. It happened before that I handeled them before I fed them and I got bit sometimes because they were hungry ( I was waiting for the rodents to thaw out ).
