    You know, I think I have to correct myself, I don't think you've got Phrynosoma hernandesi, I think you've got the pygmy horned lizard there, Phrynosoma douglasii (formerly thought to be a subspecies of P.hernandesi).

    Personally, I think you're doing the right thing to let him go. Just make sure you're putting it back in the proper environment from which it came from.

    I see them for sale out here now and again and have always heard they were a bit hard to care for with the ants and all. I also think it is best to let him go. Kitty, do you still have your hybrid tegu by any chance??

    Sorry for not replying, I just saw this. I know tupinambis already answered your question, but i figure i'd tell you my experience, so i wouldnt feel like a jerk for never replying. lol

    I took horrible care of him because I had no clue what i was doing at the time. he lived 5 years on a diet of small crickets, and under a normal household lightbulb, but he was next to a window so i beleive that helped some and he got plenty of calcium because all of his crickets were dusted. I kept him on sand...and thats about it.
