    Default Turtle basking area?

Can anybody give me any ideas for a custom made basking area?

I am currently using the biggest turtle dock that Zoo Med makes (about 9'' x 18''). My Red Eared Slider is about 6 1/2''. He's not too heavy for the dock, but he keeps chewing on and eating it. Pretty soon he's going to chew so much off of it that he won't have anything left to bask on! The pieces that he chews off are also getting annoying to scoop out of the aquarium and they are clogging the filters. I give him cuttlebones to chew on, but he ignores them and continues chewing the dock.

Again, any ideas? If it helps, my aquarium is a 120 gallon high (60'' x 18'' x 26''), and I have it filled up half way.

For my alligator, I made a dock out of the fake boards at Home Depot. It is just a little table, four legs that sit on the bottom and a flat surface. The water level is kept so that he can climb out, yet he doesn't get caught underneath it.
