This is a web site that has a long PDF which is very much worth printing and reading. It covers field studies of wild tegus their range, natural food, habits, climates that they live in and more. It also speaks to wild US populations in Florida and their potential impact on native species.
This far more information than I found anywhere else and it took some digging. This not a care sheet but a study complete with sources, authors and dates of field research.
For example you will find that tempratures and humidity in the wild for T merianea and rufescens varies greatly depending on where they are found within their range which runs from southeastern Brazil to slightly south of Buenos Aires, from the Atlantic beaches to the foot hills of the Andes to the west.
