    Default Temper

My tegu has become more aggressive recently. The hide/basking spot was getting to the 130s and above, so I took it out. He now just has the coco fiber/cypress mulch mix, topped with moss and his water dish until I can get the temps ironed out. He has been very flighty and more aggressive than he ever was when I got him, with all sorts of gaping. . Is this just because the season and temperature changes?

Probably he is feeling more comfortable with his territory and not appreciating you being in it, lol. I find my tegus do not appreciate high temps either.

Eva, my young Rufescens, is the same way. If I let her get to hot she becomes a handful. Gordo, my adult Merianea, is impossible if he gets to warm. I learned that the cool end can really be cool which really allows them to move back and forth between zones and find a comfortable temperate area.

Same here. Please let us know how things are going with him when you changed the temps and put his hide back in there. Thank you.

I might add though that Colombians have a warmer cool end than than their larger cousins.
