    Awesome pics, thanks for sharing.

And what's up with this little guy?

I'd never have imagined a tegu having purple and pink hues. He's stunning.

I ended up searching more on that one, turns out there is a Crocodile Tegu that is native to the amazons. They have really long tails and seem to be highly aquatic. I'm not sure if they are a true Tegu but there young have amazing colors.

By the looks of the little guy on the link you provided, he sure looks like a true tegu.

I'm amazed by the sheer variety of tegus there are, and how highly intelligent and adaptable they are.

I'm sure it won't be long before some of the more exotic tegus start showing up in the states.

Not too sure what you guys mean by "true tegu", but as far as I know, in the family Teiidae, there are only two recognized subfamilies, Teiinae and Tupinambinae (basically what some refer to, respectively, as microteiids and macroteiids). Within subfamily Tupinambinae are the genuses Tupinambis, Callopistes, Dracaena, and Crocodilurus. So if you consider all macroteiids as "true tegus" then yes, these would be so. If you restrict "true tegus" to the genus Tupinambis, then these wouldn't qualify.

If you ladies pay the way, I know the people to turn it into an interesting adventure. Be prepared to drink.
