Note: I am speaking from my own experience, so if it dose not work for you I am sorry but it did work for me.

Tegus kept me happy in a dark time in my life. So if you say I am crazy for loving these animals, who cares what you think.

Today I fed (not in measurable portions and blended in the "tegu's chopper") ground chicken (raw) scrambled eggs w/ shell, carrots, strawberries, mango, tomatoes, minnows(whole) and vitamin spray/calcium spray (both not one or the other just 1 shot of both) he dug it.. i offered mealies but he wouldn't take them so... I love this lizard!

I used to use the food tray, too, when our Tegus were very small. It helps alot if you have a food saver. This way there can't get any freezer burn on the meat and take all the nutrision out.

My Tegus are larger so I use my meat mixture, supplemented of course and store it in 5-6oz portions in sandwhich size freezer bags. the small bags go into either large freezer bags or tupperware containers. I freeze half of the 10+ pounds I make and refridgerate the rest. If they don't eat the portion, I stick it back in the bag and chill it until the next day. The small bags work well because they can be submersed in warm water to thaw fairly quickly. I should mention that I flatten the portions in the bag, as in patty, so they warm more quickly.
