Default Clay/peat balls as a substrate

Now, I know using cypress mulch, bark, peat moss mixed with dirt and sand are good for tegus, but Clay balls? Someone on facebook said that some people use this. I have never seen or heard anyone use this till now, has anybody heard of this?
Note: I am speaking from my own experience, so if it dose not work for you I am sorry but it did work for me.

Tegus kept me happy in a dark time in my life. So if you say I am crazy for loving these animals, who cares what you think.

Not as a substrate for digging animals. It's used to establish a false bottom/drainage area for planted terrariums and such. There would be a danger for using it with tegus in that they might try eating the balls.

I imagine you'd figure things out for yourself, it just might take a little longer.

I think Alek was referring to Hydroton, something that is just starting to get marketed for the herpetoculture industry, but has been sold for AGES for the hydroponics industry. Which, by the way, if you are going to set up a palludrium or terrarium with this stuff, go buy from a hydroponics supply, much much cheaper.
