Are you positive that she has lost her vision? Any eye injuries are considered medical emergencies and need vet attention ASAP

I recommend a Vet visit also. Why do you think that your Tegu can't see anymore ? Are you using by any chance a red light buld like a heat lamp for her ?

I'm so happy to hear that she is OK. When you thought that she can't see, was she shedding by any chance ? Tegus shed on their eyelids, too. Maybe she just had a shedding problem on that area at that time.

They have a blind area in front of their nose which makes it difficult for them to pick up food sometimes.

Actually, we were discussing here on this forum a while back. I knew horses had a blind spot in front of their noses because of their eye placement on their head and long nose. Then it came up that tegus are the same way. I imagine the same holds true for many animals.

Owls are the same, having excellent vision to hunt their pray but for example if one is sat on your arm and you fed it, it would have to use it's "whiskers" to feel where your hand is, due to having a flat face with forward facing eyes above the beak. Not that owls are lizards but you get my point.

I always think its curious that despite being carniverous tegu's do not have forward facing eyes...
