Yes, if you want to. But if you don't keep it colder then 65 in the house I wouldn't worry about using it. Tegus can handle the cold very well. To be honest with you if your Tegu wants to hibernate he will. I would let him do what he wants.

Usually some of our Tegus go into hibernation in September. I read before from one of our member that his Tegu went into hibernation at the end of August.

I love to watch Tegus swimm. I think it looks so cool. Most of the time when Tegus jump up against the screen top or rub their nose against the glass or enclosure sliding doors they want to get out to go either poop or they are hungry.

He's seems to be scared every time I'm inside his enclosure. He kind of struck at me today when I was moving my hAnd in there when I take him outs he's fine and calms down. I hope he doesn't become cage aggressive.

Awww how cute . I'm glad to hear that he is becoming tame once out of the enclosure. When you go into his enclosure please make sure your hand is in front of him. If it's above or behind him he will be scared ( I don't know if I have mentioned this before ). Don't worry about him becoming cage aggressive. It's normal for them to be a bit scared. Here is a video of one of our member's baby Tegu on the 3rd day home.
