They need a normal light cycle so they don't get stressed, so 12.on 12 off, I go 13 on and that's basking and UV lights. Mine hides 80 % of the time but this keeps the heat right and allows basking time whenever he comes out. I don't have a night heat source because it doesn't drop below 75 in my house.
