    Default Bio-Active Substrates

I've been doing more and more research on it and am seriously thinking about switching to this. Needless to say, my collection while not being numerically large is really large when it comes to fecal matter. Anything to make my house not smell like a giant poo pot is up for the challenge now. My retic, burm and black throat are all in the living room and my tegus are in the bedroom. Has anyone else tried something like this?

I've been looking into it lately myself, most places make it sound easier than it really is and don't talk about the down side or what could go wrong. Too much bacterical growth can be just as bad as not enough. Especially with different types of insects or molds that can be brought in with leaf litter and branches from outside depending on where you are. I just switched over to an eco earth, sand and top soil substrate last month when I cleaned out all the cages and my snake rack, this is the perfect time of year to collect leaf litter but I haven't done it yet, still hesitant about bringing it in. We do have native reptiles here, along with that comes native parasites and other things so gotta do more research before I go that far.
