another question

Hi there

This might be a very stupid question, I can be just paranoid after Ruby had rectal prolapse some time last week or 2 weeks ago.

As Ruby was passing stool, part of the pinkish tube (don't know what's it called) came out (around 1.5 cm), and as Ruby finished up, he showed me his hemipenes and both hemipenes n tube went back inside.

My question is, is the tube coming out while passing stool and goes back inside after finish normal?

First I would like to say that no question is a stupid question . It's better to ask then not to ask. When you talked about the tube I thought you were talking about the Hemipeneses. Here is some information for you to read if you like. Just if you can it would be great if you could film it or take some photos the next time Ruby does this.

I saw the picture you posted on the other thread - Ruby did show them before he retract both the hemipenes and the tube after finished passing stool. the pinkish tube i was talking about is located in the middle, as he almost finished, the hemipenes showed a little...then he retract all of them.

So I'm not very sure what's wrong with him...the tube was cloaca i think...the stool was firm, urate was moist, but there were still a few grapes' skin. i cut the grapes in quarters, perhaps i should cut them much smaller...

any thoughts on this? thanks again.

Your welcome. I don't ever remember seeing another tube besides the hemipeneses. So I don't know what it could be. As long as he digests other food well I wouldn't worry to much about the grape skin. I know this sounds gross. But Humans don't digest some things either ( with me it's corn ).

i managed to video taped him passing stool, but since i can't load onto youtube, i can't attach the video. anyway, i've got the pics instead, hope it's clear enough for everyone to see.

Those are some very good photos. Thank you for posting them. Now I know what tube you are talking about. It's more like thin skin around the poop. This is normal. I don't know what it's called. I'm sure tupinambis will have some information on this. Have you ever tried using Photobucket.com to down load some videos ? I use it to post photos on here.

thank you,hope it is not some kind of health issues. after passing stool he went back eating,he also munched on my toes o_O like he really meant to eat them...so they bled and he also cracked my big toe nail...guess the food was not enough (can't believe i'm still defending him).

thought i'd cut back on his food after the prolapse,perhaps should bulk up his food a bit more.

Ah ok, then it's normal, thank you! I get quite panic with small things lately ever since he got rectal prolapse 2 weeks ago...there are no vets specialise in exotic pets in China, so I'm trying hard to get things right for him.
