    Default scabbed tegu nose

i was curious if anybody else's tegu has or had a little section on the tip of there nose thats "scabbed up" a bit from, most likely, friction from her substrate aagainst the tank wall and her screen lid. My teg Jazz has been very active and has actualy escaped twice out of her tank (i know how and put a stop to it) and now thinks she can all the time lol. she circles the tank a few times trying to escape via corners and digs her face down and tries digging her way out. she then jumps at the screen and sometimes klings on a bit then falls but most of the time its a faceplant on the screen the fall. when i see her do this, i'll take her out for about 20-30 min and then ill put her back in. sometimes she will just go bask then go to her hide, and sometimes she will do 1 or 2 more faceplants and then go to her hide or relax in her water dish for a bit. Im sure she acts this way when im not home and i have no idea how long she does, but i noticed yesturday that the tip of her nose was raw and alittle scabby.

Most Tegus jump up to the screen top or rub their nose against the enclosure when they want to get out. Either because they are hungry, has to poop and don't want to poop inside the enclosure or they want to free roam around. I would ask you Vet for some Panalog (it's a yellow liquid not the cream kind ). The Vets also call it liquid Gold. Because it can be use for allot of different things. I use this on two of our Tegus when they had a nose rub. It healed up very well. If you don't clean the damaged area it could get infected and he also can get mouth rot from it. Just give him a bath and put some of the Panalog on it. Here are two of my videos of Leonidas when he had a nose rub. So you can see how damaged it was and how well it healed up. Oh, in case you are wondering why he was trying to bite me it was because he was trying to mate. The huffing and puffing and the gentle biting on my shoe are signs of a mating behavior. He just has done this two times.

Your welcome. Thank you for the compliments and for subscribing to my youtube channel . I'll subscribe to yours, too. When you are going to use the ointment you just have to use a drop to put it on the nose. This stuff goes a long way and another thing I love about it is that it doesn't expire .

thats great that it doesnt expire, and thanks for subscribing to my channel lol. i used a wet Q-tip end to clean the rub spot when i first saw it....would it be good to dip a q-tip in the liquid then apply it to his nose? or just drip it on her nose? she's obviously going to ingest some because of her licking so im assuming it's ok to digest it?

Yes, it's safe ( it's not toxic ). I just put a drop on my finger and gently dab it on there. It's easier to tell with the finger how hard you are pushing down then with something else. I forgot to post this video earlier. In this video you can see in what kind of bottle the medicine is coming in. It doesn't have any writing on it. Since the Vet has a very big bottle of it he just fills the little ones up. In case you wonder why there isn't any writing on it. Maybe your Vet has a different bottle.

Oh yeah, my Tegu has scabs for sure!

Mainly because his day's itinerary is:
    Wake up.
    Bask.
    Poop.
    Bathe.
Seek for a way out (jumping at the lid and digging at the corners, etc)
    Begging for attention.
    Eat.
    Cuddle with Daddy (me)
Be forced to attempt to love Grandma more (my mom)
    Seek for a way out.
    Beg for attention.
    Seek for a way out.
    Beg for attention
    Bask
    Seek for a way out
    Beg for attention
    Eat
    Seek for a way out.
    Beg for attention
    Cuddle with daddy
    Seek for a way out.
    Tease the cat.
    Tease the cat some more.
    Continue to tease the cat.
    Bathe
    Drink
    Bed.

That and he thinks it's a brilliant idea to rub his Nose shed off violently against rocks/logs in his Enclosure.
