Default My Tegu is allergic to cypress mulch, coco fiber husk, and orchard bark

Hello Everyone. I haven't posted in almost a year now. But I have come to find out my black nose Tegu Mylnor has a skin allergen to all of those bedding and was not shedding due to that. So we took all bedding out and switched to the good ole aspen bedding that we started with before problems occurred ! She is already improving. Burrowing more and now she isn't pushing out the bedding from her hide! Anyone one else had to go thru a skin senitive Tegu before?

She refused to shed. the skin turned to almost leather. the humidity levels were great in her enclosure. she is house with another tegu who shedded just fine. she would get cracks in her skin. after soaks after soaks and putting diffferent types on stuff on her skin. I remember back to when she was shedding just fine. Took her to the vet and we talked about it. she has no other illness. so the vet thinks and believe as just as I do it is what it is! And Now she isnt trying to push the bedding away from her she is burrowing again to where she wasnt and only laying on top of the bedding. and she is more active now

Welcome back. Do you still house the two Tegus together ? Our Leonidas had some shedding problems with the eucalyptus mulch before. I went back to using the cypress mulch and he was fine. I thought the Aspen one doesn't hold humidity very well. I never used it before.
Rich is not how much you have, or where you are going, or what you are.Rich is who you have beside you.

Your welcome. Have you ever tried to use some top soil before ? I wanted to get some but I can't seem to find any without the Miracle Grow in it.
