    Default Tegu leashes?

Hey guys, I was just wondering if there are any benefits/detriments to having a tegu on a leash? I've tried leashing Chief today (inside the house, but in a different room). He did a few crocodile-like "death rolls", but other then that I felt like this is a good way of keeping an eye on him while letting him get his daily exercise. How do you guys feel about leashes? If they're ok to use, are they effective outside?

    I sincerely appreciate your replies

i actualy am goin to leash my tegu Jazz when she gets alittle bigger. i have a harness and leash my girlfriend used for a passed ferret but she is to small for it rite now. i tried and she slipped out. i think its a good idea even in the house. lets her/him get used to it within the protection of our homes.

Tegu proof the areas as best you can and you shouldn't need a leash inside the house. By tegu proof I mean block off any areas they can fit in, behind, or under that you don't want them to go especially if you can't get to them if they go there.

I highly recommend getting the leash. I read so many stories on the Tegu getting away when something scared them. Some people found their Tegus and some didn't. Here are the leashes I used.

I used this one when they were very little. ( This is a video I found on youtube on the same leash I used ).

This is the one I used when they got bigger:
