Default Housing tegus outdoors in San Diego

I live in san diego (east side in spring valley) its still pretty hot out here and summers its up in the high 90's we came from more souther sd were its cooler and overall better anyways. Is it ok to house a tegu outdoor in the climate over here also say I completely tame a tegu and decide to house him outdoors once he/she is full grown will they be defensive once they start living outside oh and what would you guys use to build a outdoor enclosure thanks for you advice

Im moving to San Diego in a couple weeks! I had a pretty similar question and what I was told is that it was not humid enough for my gu. I plan to just keep him inside but allow him time outside to get some real sun shine.

Hi angel61939. Some Tegus stay tame and some become a bit wild. I know a lot of people worry about the humidity but I know some breeders who have some outside enclosures and there is hardly any humidity there and the Tegus are fine. Just make sure your Tegu has a water bin that he can soak in. Here are some videos you can check out if you like. If you are planing on building a outside enclosure like the one in the first video I recommend to seal and water proof the wood first. I just want to post the second video so you can see a enclosure from one of the best ( if not the best ) Tegu breeders out there ( R.I.P ). You can see there is no humidity in the enclosure.

Your welcome. I'm glad it helped. It's OK. I love playing basketball with my son. I'm bad at it and he always wins. But I still love it.
