good luck finding it. That stuff is so environmentally unfriendly that it seems anywhere west of South Dakota it doesn't exist. I mean the cutting down of cypress for mulch, the tree grows very slowly.

I'm also switching from using and recommending Cypress mulch. It is for environmental reasons. Even though here in FL, Cypress is cleared for development and not just harvested for landscape mulch. But I also think that peat and soil/sand makes a good substrate.

When you get the cypress mulch please make sure it's 100% cypress and not a blend. Pine and Cedar are toxic.

Laura. What kind of soil do you recommend ? All I found was the soil that has some kind of stuff in it like Miracle grow.

laura, what exactly is this mixture you are switching to? is it bought in bulk or are you buying a sand like calci sand and this peat mulch seperate and mixing yourself? any help at this poinit on diff substrates that are known to be as good as cypress is a help lol

my current bedding is 40% eco-earth, 20% calci sand, and 40% forest floor (cypress mulch by zoo-med i believe). i love it but it will be awfully pricey to get a foot of substrate with this blend in a 7' by 3.5' enclosure :(

Your welcome. I'm glad you already know. Some people buy some play sand from Home Depot or Lowes and mix it with some top soil.
