Sounds like he could have pulled a muscle or broke something. I would get him to a vet as soon as you can

OMG. I'm so sorry about what happened. I hope it still will be able to heal some how. I know it's in a bad spot. But why can't they cast it ( so he would have some support ) ? Did you asked your Vet if you can put some elastic bandage with velcro on him to help support the arm ? I would just give him some baths and let him bask. I would move him around to much unless it's feeding time. Please keep us posted. I have seen a Tegu and a Iguana before who had a broken leg/arm. One of them had the arm or the let bandaged to the body. The other one had a popcicle looking stick taped to the leg/arm. It's been a while ago and I'm sorry I can't exactly remember wich lizard had what broken.

I am so sorry to hear this. Accidents happen it isnt your fault, some times things happen and we cant provent them. What are you going to do for him? Dont wait too long to decide ok. I have seen many three legged lizards that live a long and happy life. Please make sure not to move him to much. I would remove anything in his cage that he can climb on to any height as well
