I'm glad you changed out the old UVB. I get my liquid calcium on ebay sometimes. Sometimes Tegus also drag their butt/vent on the floor to mark it. But if yours does it all the time than yes, it's because of the Calcium.

This how my Tegu looked like when he marked the floor.

Yes so I realized it was the perfect storm: I unknowingly stopped giving him calcium and his UVB bulb past its expiration date.

I've been giving him mouse with powder and sunbathing him every day, and got him a new UVB bulb. I've been treating him for 3 days. When I realized something was wrong, he was pushing himself straight forward and limp-wristedly. Today he uses his hands properly, mostly lifts his chest when walking, lifts up fully when shown mouse and eats with an upright poise, and has his right-to-left swagger back. He also seems very healthy and strong otherwise, and walks around nonstop.

I know he's doing a lot better but I'm such a worrier, as you all know it is very easy to get attached to these guys. He hasn't shown any other symptoms besides these, and only for a couple weeks. No swollen limbs, no disfiguration, no appetite loss or change in poops whatsoever. I've been feeling him up and down for bumps and I haven't really suspected any. I'm paranoid about his ribs because it's really hard to tell what those are supposed to feel like anyway. What do a healthy tegu's sides feel like?

Anyways, if anyone could give me some reassurance that would be great. Were these just the early signs of calcium deficiency? Will he be okay? I've read other people's stories that claim a complete recovery, and their symptoms seemed a lot worse than mine's - tremors, swollen limbs, inability to eat, etc.
Also not to mention I feel extremely guilty for not having taken better care of my tegu.
    Thanks

Please don't be so hard on your self. This can happen to every one. I have two Tegus who had some MBD problems when they were small. One of them started to twitch ( first video below ). I bought a cheaper bulb ( a Solar Glow ) back than and after just a few days he started to twitch. I went out and bought the regular bulb I usually get ( Zoo Med Power Sun ) and it went away. I found out that Solar Glow had a recall a while back and it might of been one of the bulbs that get pulled back. That's what someone at the Reptile Store told me. Since he was growing so fast I also started to give him more calcium. The second Tegu who had the MBD problem ( I found that out after he came out of hibernation ) turned out well, too. I don't know if he had it before the hibernation or if he got it during the hibernation. We just got him from a Reptile Store who kept digging him up during the hibernation. So we bought him and he went right back into hibernation the next day. Yes, I'm sure yours will be just fine . You are doing a great job with him.

This is Zeus after the hibernation and after I treated him for MBD ( but still had some MBD problems ).
