    Post New Member in WV

Hi, This site was recommended to me by a member I happened to meet by a fluke over the phone. He mentioned he had a Black & White Argentine Tegus and I told him I wanted one. I've been doing a lot of reading since then on the tegus. I am planning to get mine the end of next month, as long as no other emergencies come up. So please, keep your fingers crossed for me. I met my first Tegu at an expo and fell in love with it. I knew then I had to do a lot of research as I really wanted to get one. While I was doing my research I started planting the tegu seed in my hubby's mind. After a few weeks he asked if I really wanted something that big and I said yes. The size of these tegus is one of the things that interested me. Well, my birthday is in July and there is a reptile expo at the end of the month. I am now saving my pennies for my new addition. Anyway, I am very excited and enjoying reading the forums and learning. If anyone has any recommended reading sites, I'm all eyes.

Hi Aguardian4mypets. Welcome to our Tegu forum family. Tegus are some amazing lizards. They have a great personality. If you want to you can check out my youtube channel. The link to it is in my signature. I have some helpful tips there. I also would start reading through the first three links. I don't want to be rude but I recommend saving up a lot of money in case your Tegu needs to go to the Vet. In case you are not going to get one at the Expo I ( we ) can give you some names to some great Breeders. This way you know who the parents are.

    txrepgirl;90401,

I love your videos!! You have an absolutely beautiful tegu with what seems to be a very nice personality. How old was he in the rattlesnake video? Also what is his name. I couldn't here the video very well.

In my new member note, I should have stated pick up my tegu. I got my beardie from him. He has certain people he deals with so hopefully I won't be disappointed. Thank you for the Urls, I will make sure to read them. I want to have everything ready for my big day by being well informed and prepared. If by chance something unforeseen happens and I don't get my baby then, I will get the names of the breeders from you. Any idea round about what a B & W Argentine Tegu runs from a breeder? Also, are there any local (WV) to me? I really hate the idea of shipping. I have no problem driving hours to pick up, but the hubby does. When I rescued one of my beardies it was a 9 hour round trip. I conned the hubby into that as it was near a shop he wanted to check out. It was well worth the drive. Lil was starving to death and the owner told me she was blind from birth. Not the case at all. She had a severe eye infection and I got it all cleared up. She sees very well, has a great appitite now and has put on some good wait. I couldn't be happier.

By the way, thank you so much for the welcome message. It was greatly appreciated.

Your welcome. Any time . Thank you for the compliment. I'm glad you like my videos. The Tegu in the video is Leonidas. He was almost 9 months old in this video. We had our last four Tegus and a black throat monitor baby shipped to us without any problems. Trust me I was very worried the first time. As long as it comes from a breeder you are fine . The Argentine b/w start at $150. If it's a Coumbian you can get them for $30 to $50. I don't know any Columbian Tegu breeders.
