I want to say thank you for your service. I have quite a few family members and friends who served in the Army, Marines, and National Guard, including one Medic who did two tours and now works as a firefighter. He's like our oldest son

Hawaii is the strictest state when it comes to ownership and importation. They have a small, isolated area and a lot of agriculture to protect. It seems that tegus are on the restricted list. :(

Tegus are listed here, restricted for research and exhibition.

Well sad news i just got this email from the Hawaii dept. of Agriculture.

Your e-mail has been received by the Hawaii Department of Agriculture.
Tegus are illegal in Hawaii. There are no special permits that would allow in to the state.
We hope that you will be able to find it a good home on the Mainland prior to your move to Hawaii.
