    Default night heat lights "needed?"

would I need a nighttime heating light for when I turn off the basking light?

if I did need one when is it a good time to use one during the year?

I live in las vegas. in the summer it doesn't get to cold here and night. but in the winter it gets near 40 or lower sometimes so I know id need one then. but what about the rest of the year.

ive never used night time heat lamps for my snakes or my green iguana they hated them. the light I used was a black ceramic bulb they made no light they just didn't like the heat at night they would all ways move to the cold side of the tank and the temp was all ways the same as on there basking side. my green iguana who free roamed my room would just sleep in his bed at night "it had a zoo med heating mat". if he got cold or he try to sleep on me.

I read in care sheet/guldes say they do need one and they don't need one and I see in some vidoes of owners having one like 40% that have one and 60% that don't. but I don't know the temp ranges where they live so im a bit in the dark.

thanks for your posts and help XD

Don't worry. You don't need a heat light for your Tegu at all. If you have a enclosure in the garage for him let me know ( in the winter time ). I'm sorry I don't want to be rude. But since it's 2:37am right now I'll post some more information for you later on. I have to get up soon. Just want to let you know that I read your Thread .

Thank you ( for the good morning wish ). Since you have your Tegu inside the house you don't have to worry about it ever getting to cold at night. But if you think that the temps are to low during the day and the heat light alone isn't enough you can get a heat panel ( link below ). You can get a thermostat for controlling the temps ( second link ).

In case you are still worried that your Tegu would be to cold, here is a video on how one of the best breeders ( may he R.I.P ) kept his Tegus in the winter time. You just keep all the lights heat off at night for your Tegu.

I test it out first. Summer to no. I like my house about 80 so my tegu was fine during the winter 2 heat emitters to keep 77 on the cool side at night. 6AM basking lights come back on.
