Default UVB lighting and terrarium hoods.

Is there any specific difference between aquarium and terrarium hoods? I will be upgrading to a longer UVB bulb (for my Red Ear Slider) so I need a longer hood for it. I can't find any terrarium hoods long enough, but I can find aquarium hoods that will fit it.

If I put a linear fluorescent UVB bulb in an aquarium hood, and take off the plastic / glass covering that keeps it from getting splashed, will it still emit UVB rays?
