    Default Florida herpin

Well then, nice to see this forum up and running. In the past week every day I've seen a nice looking iguana (4-5ft+) crossing the road at some point in time. I spotted a dor not to long ago as well. In my patio we have brown basilisks running everywhere! I have yet to see any snakes but I'm sure I'll see them soon. I have some pics of the basilisks, I just need to put them up.

If I remember correctly, I am a little farther north than you are. I have yet to see anything like an iguana, but I have a bird sanctuary right out my back door, so there's a lot of vegitation. And I noticed the dozens of little lizards that are running around out there now. It's nice to have the warm weather back, huh?

Also, my son spotted a snake just last week that I presume lives back there. It was the most gorgeous rat snake (I think that's what it was, anyway). So we watched it slither around for a while. I keep looking for him to come back out, but I've only seen him out that once so far. One thing I'm loving about Florida is the ample and diverse lizard/frog/snake population. (I just wish the spider population was smaller...)

Ok, I suppose in relation to where I moved from it's an ample supply. I was out in Utah this time last year. The most I came across was a couple rattlesnakes while hiking in the mountains. And there were some little brush lizards, but I'm not sure what they were exactly- only that when they crossed the trail, they looked like they were flying  .

My husband saw a racer the other day around his office. I have yet to see one though. I always found it odd and unfair that as much as I adore snakes, I never have seen many outside. And yet it seems that my friends and family members that don't care for them one bit are always seeing them in their yards or in random places. Oh well; I suppose I should keep my eyes open a bit more often.

So why not drive with the window down, anyway?

Hey, that sounds like my household! I'll admit that most of the hobbies belong to my husband, but I have learned a lot from them. He does the RC helicopters, actually. And then there were the dart frogs and the carniverous plants, and the kites, and the newly aquired saltwater tanks... Hobbies hurt the checkbook, unfortunately ; but they're still fun. So anyway, I can relate. Once a "hobby" enters my door, it just runs from there...

Ok, fair enough. It can get pretty hot here, so I see the logic.

It's a nice temp, for sure, but windy as h@ll. We went to fly kites this afternoon. Two got broken.

I agree that the helicopters are very hard to fly. We have a program for the computer that hooks up to the control for practice. Of course, flying the real thing is a bit more tricky. And we have invested in many crash kits. In fact, it got to the point that I was buying one every holiday as a gift. It's also hard to find places to fly, from what I've seen.
