You Know Your a Herper When ...

When you find random crickets crawling on your feet and you casually toss them in a reptile tank like kobe at the buzzer

1/2 of your family room is taken over by a huge tegu enclosure and the first hour of your morning is spent misting cages, powdering crickets and thawing rodents.

You know you are a herper when:

You go on vacation to visit family but end up spending most of the time outside field herping.
It just finished raining and its very muddy out but you are running outside looking for frogs, toads, salamanders, ect!
You cant stay focused on a forum because you keep staring off at your collection seeing what everyones doing.
You become mesmerized at how cute your Tegu is sleeping on his rock and walk into the couch.
One of your herps pass away and you cry harder than youve ever cried before.
You have tattoos of your herps!
You are accused of loving your herps more than people and you cant argue otherwise.
Youd go hungry just to feed your herps.
All you think about is your collection because after all they are my children.
When you call your mother to scream "YOUR A GRANDMA! AN EGG JUST HATCHED!"
You and your reptile fall asleep watching tv but the Tegus got all the couch!
You are bitten & latched onto but you refuse to harm the herp, you just wait 5 minutes for him to let you go and then you blame yourself for getting bitten in the first place!
You wonder how bad that monitor tegu diet tastes and seriously contemplate tasting it... lol

BUT MOST OF ALL:
You know you are a dedicated herper when you walk into your room and your bearded dragon arm waves at you, the chinese water dragon & tegu are clawing at the door to come see me, and my torts stick there heads out to say hi and you wouldnt have it any other way.

...when you go to Home Depot for mulch and topsoil and they ask how big your yard is
....when the checkout girl at the grocery store asks how you prepare your mustard greens and you explain they're for a uromastyx. A what?
....when you get excited to see the FedEx package because it has fresh hornworms, superworms and crickets for the babies
....when your girlfriend says," you know, they really are pretty cool...."
....when the longest trip you've taken in 3 years is to a reptile show..
...when you spend more money on a tegu enclosure than you've spent on your house
...when you get up 2 hours early for work so you can take care of all the animals
...when you get up early on Saturdays and Sundays to take care of all the animals, without changing their feeding schedule (3am for me)
...when you get in a panic because there are no crickets left in the house and Petco is out
...when you buy a kerosine heater just in case the power goes out...for the lizards..
...when people at work politely ask you "How are your lizards..." and you tell them..one by one. (They don't usually ask again. LOL)
