Hello angelrose...He is a sub adult south african bullfrog... and yes, they will eat anything moving and that is meat and or alive......Mice, other frogs, snakes, lizards, birds... If it is alive and can even remotely fit in their mouth they're on it. Also, if your hand gets in the way, your hand is dinner. They have 3 odontodes ( teeth like structures) on their bottom jaw. They hook it into prey when they attack. If your hand is there, your hand will get hooked. They pack a pretty mean bite and can really cut up your hand.

Barney is only about 5 1/2 inches long now. When its all done, he will probably be almost the size of a honey dew melon or foot ball.

I always feed F/T mice, and I think most people do, too. In the wild, they are mostly frog eaters.

    Thanks for the comments everyone.....

As for the question about the mice being swallowed whole and biting the inside of the frogs stomach. I normally, stun the mice before I feed them to the frog. The mice are dissorientated and really don't have much strength to fight back. I would imagine its not long after they are swallowed that they die....

Barney is a ferocious eater, and sometimes I do wish that he would chew his food ha hah a ha. If I give him bigger mice, he would bite it and hold it for a while, then swallow it.

Also, He is fed about every other day...He always acts like that, like he is starving.

Barney has quite a bit more growing to do. He is only about six months old. I got him in April. In April, he was around the size of a quarter.

Here are some of Barney's baby pics. He was maybe about an inch.
