    Default Ground turkey and calcium/vitamins

I'm about to mix up some ground turkey for Asami. Last time I added the fish oil, and this time I'm gonna add fish oil, calcium, and vitamins to the mix. Can anyone tell me the appropriate amounts of fish oil, calcium, and viamins to add to a little over over a pound of ground turkey :

You can just add a tablespoon of fish oil to a pound of ground turkey. Definitely not too much and mix it up real good. Calcium, itty-bitty sprinkles.

Your going to separate into serving sizes in freezer bags; right ?

Yeah, I roll it up into bite sized balls to eat. I'm mixing the pound of turkey with everything together, then rolling balls :!:

The amounts used in the documented San Diego Zoo diet formula (SDZ Diet) that sustained their monitor lizards translates from grams to the following, IF you use 2-1/2 lbs. of ground turkey:

    2-1/2 lbs. ground turkey
    4-1/2 teaspoons bone meal powder
    1/2 crushed Centrum multivitamin tablet.

They said this formula provided the nutritional equivalent of a diet of mice.

Mix together and freeze into feeding portions. Some people use ice cube trays to freeze the mixture into cubes and then empty the cubes into plastic ziplock freezer bags for storage. I've done it that way and it's very convenient.

These days people are adding other things to the mix, like cod liver oil, essential fatty acids, fruit, etc. But for reference, this is the original recipe used by the zoo.

FYI, bone meal powder can be purchased at vitamin/health food stores. I've used the Solgar brand.
