Neither one of the snakes you mentioned are usually hands on captives, the Amazon Tree Boa would make a better choice but their are much easier to take care of and hardy types of pythons out there.
    I have to agree here...

I would pick something else entirely, LOL! But if you are really asking for an opinion between these two, I'd go with the tree boa.

me personally id go for the tree boa definatly but it being illegal is a problem

my second choice would be this....

this is a veitnamese blue beauty

i believe its a member of the rat snake family they top out at 8ft and they have three different pattern types down its body so its a very pretty snake to look at
best of all there pigs and wont turn down food, where as the tree boas can be arses to try and get to feed

    hope ya like

it WOULD be a bad decision to get an illegal snake if it wasnt friends with a vet. maybe i'll get the boa though. because the one im looking at is very docile.

Yeah man, an illegal purchase doesn't seem like a big deal but it can cause trouble. Like one before me said, if you have to take it to the vet for an issue you might have some troouble. I think the 2nd @ snake for $100 would be a better bet for ya

It happens quite often to people that illegal keep large snakes in New York City. The privacy argument is null and void when dealing with illegal animals, that are seen to pose a danger to society at large.

I had ferrets for a while and while they are illegal in Calif, I never had a prob with the vet; being reported or anything like that and I took them to several different vets over the years. I think you just have to find an exotic animal vet-they get pretty used to seeing anything. Bubbategu2
