    Default New little fatty, Oscar

Here is my new ornate horned frog (argentine horned frog). He is a pacman frog, but a different variety than Winston, the frog from my other post yesterday. He is a ceratophrys ornata. Winston is a ceratophys cranwelli. The ornates are more more rare and are known for their striking and incredible color patterns, that only get more pronounced as they age. Also, they are a very, very fat frogs as adults.

Whenever you go into Petco or Petsmart and you see a pacman frog. It is pretty much always a cranwelli, not an ornate. However, they list them as an ornate, which is incorrect. Ornates have 2 distinctive dots behind each eye. Not to be confused with the patterns on the side of the eye. These are 2 distinct dots right behind each eye..

Well...Here he is. I have been looking specifically for an all green, ornate for about 10 months now...He is about the size of a nickle and could sit on your finger tip.

Hello again Angelrose.. They like coco fiber (eco earth) by zoo med. It retains humidity, it is soft and unless consumed in large amounts by smaller frogs, will not cause impaction.
