I just had 2 people walk of ( just because the girlfriend was scared of Leonidas and he was even on a leash ).Allot of people stop and ask me what kind of Lizards they are and if they can touch them. One time there was a man and a woman in they're eighties and he told his wife " now I know what kind of pet to get you " .She didn't want to stop petting Leo.That was so cute.

I used to have a large Chinese Water Dragon and he was often mistaken for an iguana. This I can understand. I've had people ask me if my bearded dragon is an iguana. And of course my tegu too. People who are not lizard-savvy seem to think any large lizard is an iguana. It's just ignorance.

I got it at a booth...a doggie T-shirt vendor at the pet fair. We have a ferret shirt with a guitar that's pretty cool, too!

    Great t-shirt, Laura!

I don't tend to take my critters outside in public with all the idiots that want to ban them I'd rather people didn't know what I have.

Closest I got to my teggy being in public was when we were at vets and there was some irritating little kiddies that were running all over the reception area - until the vet took Tegz outside to weigh him on the dog scale. Now he's a big boy at 52" and those kiddies were soon sat back on their chairs cowering in the corner of the waiting room

I'm with you, Raziel. I have to take my corn snake back to the vet for suture removal and the other clients in there cringe. The husband is an avian/exotics vet and his wife does cats and dogs. The snake is in a container and still people make comments. Sheesh.

The attitude toward reptiles is so bad in FL that I prefer to keep mine hidden from view, too, unless it is a pet sponsored event.
