Have you tried a whole vairety of foods to see what it will like? When I first got my tegu I went to the store everyday for a week and bought tons of different fruits and vegetables and proteins to find out what he liked. every fruit they had in the store got a tested, as well as every leafy green vegetable I could find. It took me three weeks but I have settled into a nice feeding schedule of things I know he likes and will readily eat.

Sometimes she dug underneath. She had a little hidey house that she went inside of to sleep and hang out. I just used the paper towels until she was maybe a month or two old. It's been two years...I can't remember if she had mulch by the time she hibernated or not.

I wouldn't necessarily take the mulch away from yours if he's enjoying burying down into it. But you can lay a paper towel down for feeding and a little plate or food dish on top. The paper towel will keep the food off the mulch somewhat.

If the tegus won't eat crickets, that's not too big of a deal. You can still dust pinkies. What I did was to offer my little one a bite of whatever everyone else was eating. If my big tegu was eating gizzards, the little one got a piece of gizzard. Same with ground turkey. If I was eating chicken that night, I offered it chicken...or fish...or ground beef. I did the same with fruit. I've heard some people's tegus like their food really smelly, like ground turkey that has just been barely cooked or set on the counter all day.

Keep trying to get some of those supplements in the diet, though.

    Thanks for the tips, everyone!

Today we made nickel-sized meatballs mixed up with a variety of different food consisting of: ground turkey, apples, grapes, and hard-boiled eggs.

We heated it up for 10 seconds so it was barely cooked and SMELLY.

We offered 3 meatballs and 2 worms to Kahlua in a tub. He/she tried to eat one worm but didn't get it the first time and kind of gave up. But he/she ate one of the meatballs.

We left him/her in the tub for about 15 minutes to see if it would eat anymore, but unfortunately no.

I'm just glad he/she ate something decently sized today!

I think it's just mostly that he/she doesn't trust us yet, but we're definitely not giving up with that.

We now have about 100 smelly meatballs in our freezer. haha
