Beautiful! What a sweet face! Looks like the tail is about to shed. Good luck with him.

I was kinda thinking about "Tank" does that sound too silly? Only the tail will shed??? I was wondering why it was a different color than his body.

Lizards shed in pieces, unlike snakes. His tail will shed, then maybe his head, maybe feet, etc, etc. It always look a little grayish as it prepares to slough.

    He's a cutie...love that wide-eyed look! Beautiful tegu!

Ohhh he is such a gorgeous Tegu.I just want to hug him and give him lots of smootches lol.Wenn Tegus shed they usually she at the head first.Than the arms/legs and body. The tail sheds a few days later. You can tell when a Tegu is getting ready to shed.It will be very easy to tell on Tank since he has a white head. His nose/face will look a little bit pink and the head will look a little bit darker. The balck on him will look more dull. That's a good time to sart soaking him for a little while in some luke warm/warm water for a few minutes.Congrats on getting Tank. Thanks for the beautiful pictures.I'm glad that we can help.We are here for you if you need any thing .Good luck with him.
