i wouldn't think so only thing in his enclosure is a flat rock a plastic water dish and cypress mulch. its just weird cause where it is Grey like that. before he shed it looked like the scales where turning black, like a splotch of scales all had a little black dot in the middle and then when he shed it looked like this. kinda worrying me. here is a pic i put a circle around where it looks like more scales have the black dots on them. i hope its not gonna do the same thing, dont know how well youll be able to see it

My guess would be burn or just a general dermatitis (fungal perhaps).

I would put neosporin on the raw parts maybe twice a day. If he were mine, I'd temporarily put him on damp towels or newspaper instead of mulch until it heals over. Is it possible that he jumps up to wrestle with the light, and possibly burned himself that way? A vet could tell if it is fungal and perhaps give you more specific medicine to rinse it with.

It seems like for whatever reason -- burn, fungus, individual peculiarity -- a few scales did not shed properly and instead got yanked off when he was generally getting rid of his old skin. The important thing is to not let an infection set in. Be sure his basking spot gives him a nice warm option while he's healing.

I'd go with newspaper and stay away from damp. If it is bacterial, then Neosporin will help, if it is fungal, then athlete's foot cream will help (lamisil or lotrimin).

Try the Neosporing for a few days and see what happens. It will help to moisten and prevent bacterial infection. If there is no improvement, then you can try the fungal and see what happens.
